In February of 2008, the Pulaski School District established the Academic Center. Located at an off-campus site in the village of Pulaski, it was created to accommodate students who do not achieve well in a traditional school setting. It is staffed by one full-time teacher and two teacher assistants.
Currently, approximately 21 full and/or part-time students from the Pulaski, Sandy Creek, Mexico, and APW school districts attend. Instruction is provided on an individual needs basis, with direct teacher instruction, and supplemented with the online educational resources GradPoint and Castle Learning.
The center is equipped with full wireless internet access, a wireless laptop cart, 2 Smartboards, 2 document cameras, and digital cameras, to provide all students with every technological advantage available to ensure their success.
To this date, the program has proved to be successful, preventing some students from dropping out of school completely, and helping others to achieve NYS Regents diplomas.
