Administrative Restructuring at Pulaski Academy & Central School for 2019-20
There will be some changes coming to Pulaski Academy & Central School next year. Since July, there has been a review of operations and administrative structure throughout the district. Conversations with teachers, staff, parents, administrators, and the Board of Education have led to the development of a sustainable and forward-thinking plan for the district at no additional administrative cost. This plan will increase security, improve efficiency, and provide greater support for operations and teaching.
Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, there will be two assistant principals in the district; one for Lura M. Sharp and one for Pulaski Middle/High School. The MS/HS assistant will also act as the athletic director, replacing longtime athletic director Jeff Shirley who is retiring in June.
There will be one principal for the Middle/High School. Patrick Vrooman, current middle school principal will be stepping into this position. Mr. Vrooman is an experienced administrator and has proven to be an excellent manager and instructional leader.
PACS will also fill the administrative position responsible for directing curriculum, instruction and assessment which was vacated by Kristen Foland earlier in the school year. Michael Bateson, the current high school principal, will be moving to the district office to fill this roll. Mr. Bateson has an expert knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment and has demonstrated his ability to work effectively with teachers as a building-level administrator.
