Pulaski Fifth Graders Build Teamwork Skills at Camp Hollis

Fifth graders from Lura Sharp Elementary School in Pulaski recently spent a morning at Camp Hollis in Oswego participating in team-building games and activities designed to strengthen collaboration and leadership skills.
The field trip allowed students to practice valuable skills such as communication, planning and strategic thinking while engaging in fun, hands-on challenges. The activities, held at the lakeside outdoor education and recreation center, are part of the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering social-emotional learning alongside academic instruction.
“Our students gained so much from this experience,” said Hannah Platt, Assistant Principal at Lura Sharp Elementary School. “Camp Hollis provided an environment where they could work together, problem-solve and support each other while building confidence and leadership skills.”
Teachers said the day gave students a unique opportunity to bond with their peers and apply teamwork strategies in a real-world setting.
The visit to Camp Hollis supports Lura Sharp Elementary’s broader initiative to help students develop cooperation, respect and perseverance. These are important skills they can use both inside and outside the classroom.
