PACS Art Club Explores Art and Sustainability at The Wild Center

Students from the Pulaski Academy & Central School High School Art Club visited The Wild Center in Tupper Lake on a field trip that blended creativity, environmental awareness and hands-on learning.
During the visit, students attended animal presentations, toured the museum and participated in a workshop where they created jewelry using recycled materials. The trip also featured an exploration of the interactive exhibit Trolls: Save the Humans, created by artist Thomas Dambo.
The exhibit, which incorporates large-scale sculptures made from reclaimed materials, encourages visitors to reflect on sustainability, the importance of recycling and reusing materials, and the role of plants and gardens in maintaining a healthy environment. It also promotes reconnecting with and protecting the natural world.
Throughout the day, students experienced how art can serve as a powerful form of advocacy, using creative expression to communicate environmental messages. The trip concluded with time spent exploring the surrounding outdoor environment, giving students the opportunity to connect directly with nature.
“We had a blast,” said Pulaski Art Teacher Stacey Walton. “Field trips like these are so beneficial to our students, and we’re lucky to have these opportunities.”
The experience provided a meaningful extension of classroom learning, highlighting the intersection of art, environmental stewardship and community awareness.
