The masonry work being done to Lura M. Sharp Elementary School which began in early spring is expected to be completed by mid fall.
The project is set to reconstruct/and or replace the exterior brick, add insulation and a barrier and rebuild interior plaster at the elementary school building, which has deteriorated over time due to moisture penetration. The plan calls for the original flashing at the windows to be replaced and the existing brick joints where brick is not replaced at the southeast elevations of the two three story wings to be cleaned and repointed.
The project will cost approximately $500,000. Funds for the project are coming from the remaing funds from the District's previous capital project with the work falling into the scope of the last project. The district will be receiving state aid for the project.
