Pumpkin spice, apple pie, pumpkin pie. These are just a few of the staples of fall. Pulaski High School students in the school’s Baking class have been cooking and baking fall favorites all season, and their latest field trip took them to the local Little Salmon Farm in Parish.

While visiting the farm, the students learned all about local agriculture, picked fresh pumpkins to bake into their fall treats, and even got to witness a homemade pumpkin launcher in action. 

“This is one of many enriching field trips we’ve already taken this year,” said Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Brandi Ingersol. “It’s important to take the students to local farms like Little Salmon Farm, so they can see the value of locally grown produce, as well as learn about the industry. It also adds something special when the students bake things with ingredients that are fresh and locally-sourced. Our students really enjoy these hands-on opportunities and trips, and I’m thankful that we get to go on them!”
