Pulaski Students Receive Dozens of Awards at Scholastic Art Show

Student artists at Pulaski High School recently received 41 awards at the regional Scholastic Art Show. This marks another successful year in the competition for Pulaski’s Art Department.

The Scholastic Art Competition is one of the most competitive in the nation. Students from the entire Central New York region, spanning 13 counties, submit work each year. Of the submitted works, only 5-7% earn gold, 7-10% earn silver, and 10-15% earn an honorable mention.

“I am so incredibly proud of the hard work and perseverance our students have shown this year, and their efforts have more than paid off,” said Stacey Walton, an art teacher at Pulaski. “We had so many amazing entries this year overall and had extremely successful results!”

Pulaski’s 41 awards included an honorable mention for a photography portfolio, 9 Gold Keys, 16 Silver Keys, and 15 honorable mentions. All portfolio winners at all levels and all Gold Key individual winners move on to national judging.

All winning artwork will be delivered to OCC on Saturday, January 11, and be put on display at the Whitney Applied Technology Center from January 14th through February 28th, with an award ceremony being held January 21st at 7pm at the SRC Arena.
